- The InfoTel is about as Rockwell as they get, the name "Infotel"
- is never once mentioned in the modems code or in the manual. It's based
- on a Rockwell chipset using Rockwell controller code with apperently no
- changes at all. I owned one (not a voice model, just a regular one), and
- was somewhat less then pleased with it. The Motorola Power consistantly
- outperformed it on just about every connection. I also had a USR
- Sportster with an old firmware ('94 era), and assuming that newer codes
- have made even a few improvements (and according to just about everyone,
- they've made many), it's performance would be pretty similar to the
- Motorola. All in all, the Infotel is probably the worst of the v.34
- modems I've owned, but then again, it was also by far the cheapest. It
- would connect at 28.8 on occasion, provided it was over a decent line and
- I wasn't trying to connect to something other then Rockwell or USR
- (connections to AT&T based modems were pretty poor, 19.2 or 21.6 where the
- Motorola got stable 28.8 connections).
